My Story so far...
I have a great passion for history especially walking the ground where it happened. I wish to share my experiences of the Battlefield with everyone. I am not a Historian, yet via my Blog I will be able to offer a visual perspective of some of the major Battlefields in Europe.
Walking in the footsteps of those who created history is an experience that books, documentaries, lectures and movies cannot provide. As time moves on more and more Battlefields are being altered or built upon. In many cases the land has greatly changed from it’s initial topography. There are some areas where it seems time has stood still, while others have disappeared for ever.
My pictorial Blog is to provide live media as I walk the ground and reflect my experiences at that time. The Battlefield is an arena of senses were you have to imagine the smell, sound, feel and taste. A place of great bravery, trauma, anguish and evil.
I pay my respects to the soldier on the ground with visits to connected cemeteries. A reminder to the awful cost and sacrifice made by those so young. Also those maimed and injured causing great hardship in later life. My Blog is not about the politic of war, it is about the ordinary Man or Women who endured the carnage so we can have our day.
